Despite our long-standing friendship and close bond, we agreed that I would offer my candid opinion. We’ve always set high standards for each other’s creations, as you would expect from good friends.
With an open mind, a healthy dose of curiosity, and a good glass of wine, I eagerly awaited what Sarah had in store for me.
The artwork she eventually presented exceeded my expectations.
A modern interpretation of The Thinker, it features a figure deeply lost in thought. However, instead of the traditional pose, the figure leans slightly forward, with an intense look of concentration. A fragment from a work by P. Nolens, reduced to a simple image. To me, the posture suggests not melancholy, as you might expect, but rather deep focus and inner reflection, leaving plenty of room for creativity.
The colors of the artwork are rich and earthy, with green and brown tones that create a sense of depth and calm, perfectly fitting into my interior. The tranquility it exudes is exactly the feeling I seek when I return home after yet another beautiful, busy day. Trust me, I prefer my days like this—days when I’ve fully expressed my creativity and enthusiasm.
The artwork invites me into a moment of peace and self-reflection, a reminder of the power of focus and the beauty of inner silence, creating space for new creations.
For me, you have truly succeeded!"

"The painting Sarah created for me is exactly what I was looking for, and it fits perfectly into my practice.
Just around the corner from the beautiful Onze Lieve Vrouweplein in the center of Maastricht, I offer mind & body coaching for adults, youth, and children. Together with my clients, I embark on a journey, always taking a holistic approach that focuses on individual needs and tailored solutions.
This painting exudes a serene calm, with a palette of warm colors that harmoniously circle around a central core. The shades range from deep, rich oranges and reds to soft golden accents, which together evoke a sense of security. The composition invites you to get lost in the layered nuances and subtle transitions of color. The painting has created a beautiful, intimate spot in my practice space where you can quietly daydream.
My therapeutic approach has been beautifully translated into this piece of art."

The "Everyday Pill Series" is a collection of 3 paintings that explores the relationship between ordinary objects and the ubiquitous presence of pharmaceuticals in our daily lives.
The colorful pills serve as a metaphor for the distractions and complexities that accompany modern living. They represent not only the medical solutions we seek for our ailments but also the plurality of emotions, anxieties, and pressures that color our lives. By placing these colorful elements against the black and white object, it highlights the tension between the simplicity of our everyday existence and the chaotic, vibrant world of our inner struggles.
This series encourages viewers to reflect on their own lives and the ways in which they navigate the balance between routine and the unexpected. The colorful pills can be seen as both a source of relief and a reminder of the challenges we face. They symbolize the choices we make in pursuit of happiness and health, often amidst the backdrop of a world that can feel overwhelmingly monochromatic.
